For parents or caregivers, Seizure Counter is a non-intrusive way to count the numbers of any visual epilepsy seizures over a periode of time, to get control of variations in seizures with medication change, treatments, different activities and over time.

A seizure, formally known as an epileptic seizure, is a period of symptoms due to abnormally excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. Outward effects vary from uncontrolled shaking movements involving much of the body with loss of consciousness (tonic-clonic seizure), to shaking movements involving only part of the body with variable levels of consciousness (focal seizure), to a subtle momentary loss of awareness (absence seizure).

Seizure Counter is optimised for fast paced real time tracking of rapid absence seizures that may occur up to more than three hundred an hour, and can also be used to record and log any type of visual seizures like tonic, clonic, atonic and myoclonic seizures.

Features:

- Non-intrusive seizure tracking with NO extra equipment like an EEG headband required. Tracking is purely based on observation of the child.

- Automatically calculates average number of seizures per hour.
To be able to identify improvements, e.g. when doing medicine adjustments, or variations, e.g. during different activities, it is essential to have a baseline number to compare against over time. # of seizures per hour is a commonly used identifier and this is automatically displayed for ongoing and previous session, independent of how long a session actually lasted.

- Haptic feedback assures you that the seizure has been recorded.
If following a child playing around and they typically have more than twenty absence seizures an hour, it may be impossible to look down at your phone to assure you actually pressed the +1 button and got to record a seizure. A phone vibration assures you the seizure was logged.

- Visual identifications of seizures and time elapsed for your ongoing session.
You may have been asked to track seizures during a fixed interval over a longer period, like thirty minutes every day for four weeks. Easily see when you started and how much time are left to know when you may get a break from observing!

- Pause ongoing session.
You may have to count your child’s seizures during their toilet break, but probably want to take a break during your own. Or maybe you just need to get a cup of coffee… Either way it quickly turns into a messy process and your countings are easily obfuscated. If you have tried to record more than one session of your child you probably know there are many dead simple reasons you want to be able to pause a session and easily continue where you left off, without loosing track of time.

- View historical graph
Easily get an overview of progression, good or bad, over time using the average seizure count per hour for each day.

- Uses iCloud
Sessions and seizures are stored in your personal iCloud and shared between all your devices. If you replace or add a new device your previous sessions are automatically restored. The data is not shared with us.

- WatchOS
The WatchOS app also syncs with your other devices when using iCloud. Easily count seizures when on the go and without your iPhone or iPad available.

- Export data
Export sessions and seizure to a .csv file for editing in Excel, Numbers, Sheets and more, or share with your paediatrician.
